Keep the Signal Strong: Why Join Your Local Club?
Amateur radio and GMRS are incredible personal hobbies, but they thrive on community. Whether you are a seasoned operator, a new Technician, or just getting your family started on the airwaves, joining a local club is the most effective way to keep our region connected.
Every time you key up a repeater, join a weekly net, or sit for a local license exam, you are using systems built and maintained entirely by volunteers.
When you become a member of NFLARC, you are directly supporting:
Area Infrastructure: Keeping the VHF, UHF, and GMRS repeaters online and maintained. From the electricity and internet connections at the repeater shacks to the hardware on the towers, your dues keep the signals flying.
Training & Mentorship: Fostering a local community where experienced operators can help newcomers build antennas, program radios, and learn best practices.
Local VE Testing: Providing Volunteer Examiner sessions right here in our community, allowing people to earn or upgrade their FCC licenses without traveling hours away.
Grant Funding Power: There is power in numbers! When our club applies for grants to fund major equipment or emergency communication upgrades, a robust and active membership roster is the absolute best way to prove our community impact and secure that vital funding.
We are 100% volunteer-run. By joining the club, you help keep the lights on, the towers standing, and the community prepared.
